ABOUT ME

In growing up, I always saw my home as a source of comfort; a safe place to be, especially the living room.  In the nineteen sixties, our father allowed us in the living room for a couple of reasons...to date, receive company, and to play our 45, 33, and 78 speed records on the console record player. Today, family life is so different.  We use all the rooms in the home to actually live in.  Instead of a "living room", I like to call the extra room "after dinner coffee room", meditation room, entertainment room; whatever the function, the room needed to be enjoyed and used.

As I sat in that room across from the foyer where the piano sat shining all the time, I often wondered why the colors purple and red were daddy's colors of choice.  The sofa was purple linen with a nice choice of art behind it on the wall, hanging rectangular with hints of red and navy painted through it.  A round red velvet chair sat flanking the fireplace with wheels underneath adorned with red and white check pillows.

It all looked "tacky" to me until I started interior design school.  I realized my father was very ahead of his time and I came to appreciate how he made our home feel inside and out.

Today, as I approach a client, my goal is to create a place of welcome, solace, safety, and escape for the family to enjoy.  No matter what your goals are for approaching an interior designer, the basic needs and function should always be discussed and met.  That is why I chose this profession, it's my passion. Here's hoping I can make your home feel as comforting as mine did.
